Sunrise & Sunset

The lovely and diverse colors of sunrises and sunsets can be used to decipher a little bit about what is going on in the atmosphere at the time it is viewed. Reds and oranges can mean there are clouds and blues can be caused by aerosols, or tiny particles. One instrument, SAGE III on ISS, will be using sunrise and sunset to make measurements of stratospheric ozone and aerosols from the space station starting next year.
